Mining licences

1. Licence status

All three operations are conducted under current South African mining authorisations. Diamond Lakes holds a New Order Mining Right over 99 hectares, valid until 2044.

2. Area: 99 hectares and 95 hectares

Diamond Lakes is described in some documents as comprising 99 hectares and in others as 95. Both figures are correct and refer to different interests:

• the New Order Mining Right covers 99 hectares; and
• the surface rights are held over 95 of those 99 hectares.

Documents prepared from the surface-rights position state 95 hectares; those prepared from the mining right state 99. This site uses 99 hectares throughout, that being the area governed by the mining right and therefore the area available to be worked.
