Operations
The dredger programme, developed over five years, provides access to submerged diamond gravels previously beyond reach, and recovers diamonds without chemical input.
Method
A suction dredger works submerged gravels directly, removing the need to dewater the workings or to move gravel by earthmoving fleet. Recovery is mechanical and gravimetric. No reagents are introduced to the material: no cyanide, no flocculants and no solvents.
The plant is electrically powered and capable of operating from a mini solar grid on site, replacing an operation previously dependent on diesel.
Resource mix
Five resources are extracted across the three operations: diamonds, manganese, agates, crushed stone and building sand. Manganese production at Mat Roux and Sons is being scaled toward exportable volume.
